Lightning Basketball Teams Play in Championship Games
See the results from the most recent basketball games below. This week’s action saw an end to the 2025-26 Lightning basketball season as the two remaining teams played hard but lost in their respective SFAL finals matchups. Read a recap of each playoff game below.
- 7th Grade JV Boys lost to KIPP SF Bay, 27-21
- Varsity Boys lost to KIPP SF Bay, 37-25
In the JV Boys finals, Dante and Elio got the team off to a fast start with their scoring. The game went back and forth until the final minutes, when KIPP SF Bay put in a couple late shots to pull ahead and win by a final score of 27-21. It was an incredible season for the JV team who went undefeated through the regular season. They showed tremendous effort and togetherness each and every game. Congratulations to coaches Katie and Sydney and the Live Oak 7th Grade JV Boys team for all their success this year!
In the Varsity Boys finals, KIPP SF Bay got off to a fast start behind their defense and scoring. The Live Oak squad would not give up easily and went on a run in the third quarter behind Jack and Toby's scoring. In the fourth quarter, the KIPP SF team went on their own run to pull away and win by a final of 37-25. The Live Oak Varsity Boys had an amazing season with some incredible moments along the way. We’re proud of all their hard work and camaraderie. Congratulations to Coach Adrian and the 8th Grade Varsity Boys team on all their accomplishments this season!
