Jacob Shaul ‘22 Finds His Niche Teaching Tech

It is inspiring to see another Live Oak alum out in the world making an impact! Jacob Shaul ‘22 was recently featured in an article on CNN.com showcasing his work in teaching technology classes through his volunteer start-up Mode to Code. What started in Middle School at Live Oak as an outlet to translate Jacob’s knowledge and passion for technology into meaningful action is becoming an invaluable resource for tech users of all ages throughout the Bay Area.
By having the agency and support to pursue passions like this, Live Oak students are encouraged to explore how their unique skill set and interests can help impact their school, their neighborhood, and their city. Academic classes at Live Oak help build perspective and purpose, while student clubs and special classes bring like-minded changemakers together, and faculty nurture this potential by encouraging healthy risk-taking and trial and error as students learn how they can best change the world.
